Introduction
My name is Chris Pittman, and I dream of a community where walking and biking are as natural as breathing. A place where school bike racks overflow with kids' bikes, where families stroll safely to the park, and where my bike commute doesn’t begin with me nervously poring over a map to avoid becoming roadkill.
This vision isn’t just about transportation—it’s about creating a better quality of life for everyone. I’ve been inspired by the ideas of Strong Towns, especially their focus on how our physical environment shapes our behavior. The way we design our streets and neighborhoods profoundly influences how we get around. Roads should serve all people—whether they’re walking, biking, or driving.
I’m learning as I pedal forward on this journey, and I know there will be steep hills and lessons along the way. But I believe that together, we can reimagine Amarillo as a place where being a human outside is safe, normal, and enjoyable.
I invite you to join me on this ride toward change—whether it’s by hopping on a bike, taking a walk, or simply rethinking how we design the spaces we share. Let’s create a community that works for everyone.
