Our Journey So Far: Building a Safer, More Active Community
We may be new, but PATH is already making strides toward creating a community where walking and biking are safe, fun, and accessible for everyone. Here’s what we’ve been working on—and how YOU can help us keep the momentum going:
Bike Celebrations
We’re bringing joy to cycling with events like the Cinco de Mayo Parade and the Juneteenth Parade. These celebrations remind our community that biking isn’t just transportation—it’s fun!
How You Can Help: Join us after the events to assist with basic bike repairs or share information about cycling safety and benefits.
National Bike Month Proclamation
We’re advocating for Amarillo to officially recognize National Bike Month, and within it, Bike n’ Roll to School Day (May 7), Bike to Work Week (May 12-16) , and Bike to Work Day (May 16). This proclamation will serve as a springboard for local businesses, schools, and organizations to promote cycling in our community.
How You Can Help: Do you know an organization who could support this effort? Spread the word or connect us with potential partners!
Bike Bus Programs
Imagine kids biking to school together, guided by adult leaders—safe, social, and sustainable. We’re working to launch bike bus programs in local schools to make cycling a viable transportation option for students.
How You Can Help: Volunteer as a bike bus leader at your local school or connect us with educators who might support this initiative.
Barrio Bash Booth
This back-to-school event is a perfect opportunity to engage families about biking. PATH will host a booth to share resources and offer free student bike repairs.
How You Can Help: Join us at the event to assist with repairs or help spread the word about active transportation.
Every step we take brings us closer to a community where walking and biking are safe, normal, and celebrated. Whether you volunteer your time, share resources, or simply show up to support an event, YOU are an essential part of this journey.
Let’s pedal forward together!
